Arrival at Emberwake Port

Long before borders were drawn or banners were raised, this coast became known as a place of safe landing.

Sailors, settlers, traders, and wanderers arrived from distant shores, guided by calm waters and the promise of land beyond the horizon. A dock was built, then roads, then towers to watch the sea. What began as a refuge slowly became a crossroads of the world.

No king ever ruled the Port.

From its earliest days, those who settled here agreed it would stand as neutral ground—a place where all could arrive in safety, trade freely, and depart without fear. The city was never meant to rule the world, only to connect it.

The Accord of the Port

Before the first walls were raised, an agreement was made. It became known simply as The Accord.

The Accord exists to ensure that this world is shaped by creation rather than destruction. It is a promise carried not by crown or army, but by those who choose to honor it.

Terms of the Accord

  • The Port and its surrounding lands are protected ground
  • No combat may take place within the Port
  • Violence between travelers is forbidden without consent

Conflict is not outlawed, but it must be chosen.

Those who wish to test strength or settle disputes may do so only when all parties agree, or within designated arenas where combat is expected and honored.

Victory earned by consent is respected. Violence without it is not.

Purpose of the Port

The Port exists for three reasons:

Arrival

All journeys begin here

Trade

Goods, knowledge, and rumors pass through its docks

Departure

Those seeking land, power, or peace must leave its walls

Every traveler who arrives is free to stay, but none are bound to remain.

The Lands Beyond

Beyond the Port stretch vast and untamed lands.

No borders are set. No kingdoms stand unchallenged. Forests, plains, mountains, and seas wait to be claimed by those bold enough to shape them.

Those who depart may:

  • Found settlements
  • Raise banners and declare rule
  • Form alliances or rivalries
  • Build kingdoms that endure—or fade into memory

History beyond the Port is unwritten.

Conflict and Choice

Disagreements are inevitable in a growing world, but war is not the only path.

Many rulers choose diplomacy. Others choose contests of skill, strength, or strategy. Some build arenas so that disputes may be settled without drawing entire nations into ruin.

The Accord does not prevent ambition—it tempers it.

The Role of the Port Today

The Port remains unchanged while the world around it grows.

It is a place where enemies may walk side by side without blades drawn, where kingdoms meet without fear, and where new travelers take their first steps.

Some believe the Port will one day fall as power spreads across the land.

Others believe it will stand forever, watching kingdoms rise and crumble beyond its shores.

What All Travelers Are Told

Build what you will.

Rule how you choose.

But remember—this world is shaped by those who create more than they destroy.

Closing Inscription

Every kingdom begins beyond the Port.

Every legend begins with a choice.
